Job Description/Duties

Internship open to current University of Leeds students only

This role will be based on the university campus with scope for it to be undertaken in a hybrid manner. We are also open to discussing flexible working arrangements.

Are you a University of Leeds student looking to gain experience from a placement? Are you passionate about increasing visibility of under-represented communities? Do you want to help surface and explore LGBTQ+ narratives from the University’s Cultural Collections?

Cultural Collections & Galleries is part of the University Library and is responsible for caring for the University’s rare books, manuscripts, archives, art, and objects. Our collections are a rich resource for staff, students, and the wider research community, and offer significant potential to share a range of diverse stories.

Our LGBTQ+ Project Internship Programme has supported a series of interns exploring LGBTQ+ representation across our collections. We now have an opportunity to support a further internship to continue this important work.

This internship will have the opportunity to develop approaches to highlighting LGBTQ+ narratives and individuals in our collections, opening access to our collections for diverse audiences, and engaging with queer theory to better understand how we can interpret identities from the past.
