Job Description/Duties

This opportunity is open to University of Leeds placement students or recent graduates who have completed their undergraduate or Masters degrees, or who will have completed their studies to be able to take up full-time work in September 2026.

This role will be based on the University campus, with scope for it to be undertaken in a hybrid manner. We are also open to discussing flexible working arrangements.

Are you a recent University of Leeds graduate looking to start your career or are you an undergraduate student looking for a placement year opportunity as part of your degree? Do you have a passion for rare books, archival material, and the visual arts? Do you have great communications skills, and have an interest in digital content creation?

We are looking for a proactive and creative individual to support the delivery of our digital communication activities. You will have excellent communication skills and be able to interact with a diverse range of people. You’ll enjoy using your initiative to solve problems and your creativity to produce engaging content across a range of channels.

Cultural Collections & Galleries at the University of Leeds holds outstanding collections, encompassing archives, rare books, art, objects, and the University’s institutional archive. Our collections are accessed through our world-class Brotherton Research Centre and our two public galleries, The Stanley & Audrey Burton Gallery and Treasures of the Brotherton. Audiences range from University students and staff to members of the public, including community groups and more. We offer an engaging programme of events and exhibitions, teaching and research support, and community focussed projects. We use our digital and social media channels to promote and engage our target audiences with our collections and the work we do.

Our internship role is a fantastic opportunity for you to contribute to the Cultural Collections & Galleries Audience Development Strategy, whilst developing your own skills and experience. You will gain experience in developing and delivering effective digital communications and engagement campaigns for different audiences. You will also develop vital employability and transferrable skills, essential for your future career.

Interviews are expected to be held on the 21st July 2026 and 22nd July 2026.
