The role of the Academic Writing Mentor is to facilitate writing sessions which support learners with their academic writing. These facilitated sessions support students in their academic literacy development. The role of an Academic Writing Mentor is not to teach writing skills or provide specific writing feedback, but to facilitate an active learning space in which attendees can develop their writing skills and provide support and motivate attendees. Academic Writing Mentors will also have an opportunity to contribute to student engagement with the service by writing/videoing blog posts, sharing tips, contributing to the Library’s social media content and have an opportunity to shadow staff within the Learning Development Team.
