Job Description/Duties

Joblink are pleased to be recruiting on behalf of Leeds University Union. We're looking for a retail coordinator for immediate start. 

Please Note: This is a fixed-term role of approximately 6–8 weeks to support operations during the recruitment and onboarding of a permanent Retail Coordinator. The successful candidate is welcome and encouraged to apply for the permanent position when it is advertised. Flexible working options are available, with a minimum commitment of 30 hours per week

About the Role

Leeds University Union is looking for a proactive and customer-focused Retail Coordinator to support the day-to-day operation of our Independent Stores. Working closely with the Retail Manager, you will help deliver an outstanding customer experience, drive sales performance, maintain excellent retail standards, and contribute to the achievement of financial and operational targets.

This is a hands-on role within a busy retail environment, ideal for someone with retail experience who thrives on delivering exceptional service, supporting colleagues, and ensuring operations run smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

Retail Operations

  • Support the management and daily operation of LUU Gear.
  • Help deliver financial performance in line with sales budgets and KPI targets.
  • Coordinate day-to-day retail activities to ensure stores operate efficiently and effectively.
  • Maintain high standards of merchandising, presentation, and customer service.
  • Support the delivery of operational objectives, service expectations, and business development initiatives.
  • Manage workload effectively to ensure all administrative and operational tasks are completed accurately and on time.

Customer Experience

  • Support and promote a service-driven culture across the retail team.
  • Deliver and maintain excellent customer service standards at all times.
  • Monitor performance and help achieve customer service and sales objectives.
  • Maintain awareness of student needs and retail trends, using insight to improve the customer experience.

Team Support

  • Support the development, recognition, and performance of team members.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the Union and build effective working relationships with stakeholders and external partners.
  • Assist with staff scheduling and rota coordination as required.

Stock Management and Purchasing

  • Monitor stock levels and place orders when required.
  • Develop an understanding of purchasing processes and supplier requirements.
  • Manage stockroom areas effectively to support replenishment, maintain retail standards, and minimise stock loss.
  • Assist with stock control and inventory management processes.

Online and Digital Retail

  • Manage and process online and bespoke customer orders.
  • Update and maintain the Independent Stores website as required.
  • Ensure web orders are completed efficiently and accurately.

Compliance and Governance

  • Ensure compliance with all LUU policies, procedures, and relevant legislation.
  • Maintain high standards of Health & Safety compliance.
  • Operate within LUU's ethical and environmental principles.
  • Support equality, diversity, and inclusion initiatives across the Union.

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • Previous experience working in a retail environment.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively within a busy, fast-paced environment.
  • Experience supporting or supervising colleagues.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work flexibly and collaboratively as part of a team.

Desirable

  • Experience managing stock ordering and stock control.
  • Experience working with online retail platforms and web orders.
  • Knowledge of retail KPIs and sales performance measures.
  • Experience working within a student-focused environment.
