Joblink are pleased to be increasing our pool of Night Porters and Fire Wardens to work across several University of Leeds student accommodation sites.

Residential Services provides accommodation for around 8,000 students across multiple locations, both on and off campus. We are committed to delivering an exceptional experience and are looking for reliable, proactive individuals to join our team.

We are currently very busy, so immediate starts are available.


The Roles

Night Porter

  • Shifts: 21:00 – 08:00 (1-hour unpaid break)
  • Flexible, casual work ideal alongside studies or other commitments with up to 4 nights on, followed by 4 days off

Fire Warden

  • Shifts:
    • Evening shifts: typically around 3 hours per shift
    • Weekend shifts: approximately 9 hours per day (Saturday & Sunday, with 1-hour break)
  • Flexible, casual work ideal alongside studies or other commitments

Both roles are offered on a flexible, casual basis to support operational needs. You may be required to work across multiple accommodation sites.

This is an excellent opportunity for students, including international students.


Key Responsibilities (both Roles)

  • Delivering a high level of customer service to residents and visitors
  • Carrying out routine patrols to ensure safety and security of residents and buildings
  • Responding promptly and professionally to issues and incidents
  • Reporting and accurately logging incidents or concerns
  • Liaising with University Security, Residence Wardens, and contractors
  • Supporting fire safety procedures, including responding to fire alarms, assisting with evacuations, and ensuring fire safety protocols are followed
  • Monitoring fire safety systems and reporting any faults, hazards, or concerns promptly and accurately

Additional Duties (primarily night porters)

  • Minor maintenance tasks and cleaning of communal areas
  • Litter picking and waste removal
  • Opening/locking up buildings
  • Responding to fire alarms
  • Flushing water outlets (Legionella prevention)
  • Issuing keys to contractors for emergency works

  • Basic IT skills (Word, Outlook)
